Officials block the movement of ships through the sea corridor for grain exports - UGA

Officials have unreasonably blocked the movement of ships through the sea corridor opened by the Ministry of Infrastructure and the military. This was reported by the Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA) and called on the government to intervene and solve the problem as soon as possible.

"The Ukrainian Grain Association is concerned about the reports of grain market participants about the unreasonable delay of ships loaded with grain for export in the ports of Great Odesa. Such delays in the ports cause huge losses to Ukrainian farmers and the state budget," the statement said.

The UGA noted that every day of unreasonable downtime leads to huge losses and an increase in insurance payments, so a prompt solution to the problem is needed.

"The UGA is convinced that in conditions when the export of grain and agricultural products provides the lion's share of the country's own foreign exchange earnings and ensures a significant part of the tax collection to the state budget, which Ukraine can spend on military needs, the unreasonable delay of ships in ports is a crime that causes losses not only to Ukrainian farmers but also to the state budget, and therefore reduces funds for military spending," the association emphasized.

They noted that the delays of ships in ports are in no way related to weather conditions or navigation. Therefore, the UGA called on the authorities to intervene, stop the delays and unblock grain exports as soon as possible.
