Israel and Hamas begin implementation of agreement to release 39 Palestinian convicts

The Israeli Prison Service has received a list of 39 Palestinian terrorism convicts who will be released today as part of an agreement with Hamas. This was reported by the Times of Israel with reference to an official Israeli source.

According to the source, the prison service has begun the procedure for the release of 39 juvenile prisoners and women. At noon, they will be transferred to Ofer prison in the West Bank before being released in the West Bank or East Jerusalem.

The release of these persons will take place only after the identification and release of 13 Israeli hostages.

Reuters reports that among the Palestinian prisoners are 24 women and 15 teenagers, a Palestinian official said.

Qadura Fares, the Palestinian Commissioner for Prisoners' Affairs, said that all those released from the West Bank or Jerusalem would be handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross at Israel's Ofer military prison around 16:00 local time. After that, those from Jerusalem will head to the city itself, while those from the West Bank will meet their families in Betunia.

Earlier, we reported that the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas will come into effect tomorrow, November 24, at 7 a.m. The hostages will be released at 4 pm. This was stated by Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Majed al-Ansari, according to The Times of Israel.
