Today, on December 11, Sweden announced a new aid package to Ukraine in the amount of SEK 1.4 billion ($133.5 million). The money will be used to support the population in the winter. This was stated by Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson in SVT Nyheter.
"At the moment, this is the largest support in the framework of Sweden's bilateral aid to Ukraine," Kristersson said.
Most of the money will go to the World Bank's Ukraine Recovery Fund. The fund supports Ukraine's central infrastructure in the areas of energy, housing, healthcare and transportation.
The money taken from the Swedish aid budget will be used to purchase equipment for heating and power transmission in the Ukrainian power grid. There are other forms of assistance for Ukrainians, such as support for shelters.
