Project for the construction of power units 5 and 6 started at Khmelnytskyi NPP

Energoatom has started a project to build KhNPP-5 and KhNPP-6 using the American AR1000 Westinghouse technology at Khmelnytskyi NPP. The first cube of concrete for power unit No.5 has already been laid. This was reported by the press service of NNEGC Energoatom.

Thus, the fifth power unit at Khmelnytskyi NPP will be the first in Ukraine to be built using the American AR1000 technology.

"A special feature of the American AR1000 technology is the ability to maneuver the blocks. Today, the enemy is attacking and destroying the balancing capacities of the Ukrainian energy sector, so the construction of maneuverable blocks is very important for us," said Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko.

According to Energoatom's Chairman of the Board Petro Kotin, thanks to the construction of KhNPP Units 5 and 6, after the commissioning of two new units 3 and 4, the capacity of this plant will exceed that of ZNPP.
