Russians attacked the power system of Sumy region: many settlements are without electricity

On the night of May 6, Russian troops conducted air strikes on the power system of Sumy region. This was reported by the regional military administration.

As a result of enemy shelling, there was no electricity in the settlements of three districts.

“The Armed Forces of Ukraine's air defense units shot down 12 Shahed attack UAVs. As a result of the Russian attack, the settlements of Sumy, Romny and Okhtyrka districts were left without electricity,” the RMA reported.

At night, emergency services and power engineers managed to restore power supply in the areas affected by the attacks, as well as partially in Sumy. However, restoration work is still ongoing.

“An emergency commission on technogenic and environmental safety and emergencies was convened and decided to restore critical infrastructure facilities using emergency power supplies. The Points of invincibility have been deployed and are ready to provide assistance,” the Sumy RMA added.

The Ministry of Energy reports that 400,000 households in Sumy and the region were left without electricity after the power outage.

Some consumers have already been connected, but 91 settlements are still without power.
