Changes in the military leadership: Zelensky appoints new commanders of the SSO and Support Forces

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed a new commander of the SSO and appointed a commander of the Support Forces.

Thus, Zelensky dismissed Serhiy Lupanchuk from the post of commander of the Special Operations Forces (SSO) and appointed Oleksandr Trepak to this position.

The relevant decrees No. 313/2024 and 314/2024 of May 9 were published on the website of the President's Office.

It should be noted that before Lupanchuk, this position was held by Viktor Khorenko, who claimed that he was fired without warning.

Trepak used to be the deputy commander of the SSO, and in December 2021, Zelensky promoted him to the rank of brigadier general.

In addition, the president appointed Dmytro Hereha, who had previously held this position, as commander of the Armed Forces Support Forces. The corresponding decree No. 315/2024 of May 9 was published on the President's Office website.

Hereha was appointed commander of the Armed Forces Support Forces by a decree of the Minister of Defense on August 9, 2021, but was relieved of his duties by a presidential decree on March 4, 2024.
