Security and Bilateral Defense Cooperation - Deputy Head of the Office of the President met with the Canadian Ambassador to Ukraine

Deputy Head of the Office of the President Roman Mashovets met with Canadian Ambassador to Ukraine Larisa Haladza to discuss the security situation around our country, ways of further development of Ukrainian-Canadian cooperation in security and defense, the official website of the President of Ukraine reports.
Roman Mashovets informed about the violation of the ceasefire in the east of Ukraine by the Russian side, the presence of additional Russian troops along the Ukrainian border, the increase of reconnaissance activity by the Russian Federation. He noted that after the spring gathering of troops and the Russian-Belarusian strategic exercise "West-2021," Russia left military equipment near Ukraine, creating opportunities for the rapid build-up of its forces there.

The deputy head of the Office of the President thanked the Canadian side for its unwavering support in countering Russian aggression and strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities.

The parties discussed the ways and practical steps to further develop cooperation on reforming the Ukrainian Defence Forces, improving human resources policy in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, implementing joint space projects, providing consulting and logistic support to our state.

In turn, the Canadian Ambassador drew attention to the need for joint work on the continuation of the UNIFIER military training mission in Ukraine, consolidation and coordination of efforts to assist our country together with other NATO partners, and more active involvement of Ukrainian representatives in international events on security issues held in Canada.
