We are waiting for signals from the European Council on the inadmissibility of escalation - Zelensky in Brussels

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who arrived in Brussels for the Eastern Partnership summit, held a meeting with the president of the European Council, Charles Michel.

As writes "European Pravda," he reported about it in his Twitter.

Zelensky said that in the conversation he talked about Ukraine's desire for full membership in the EU, as well as the security situation on Ukraine's eastern borders.

"We expect clear signals after the meeting of the European Council on December 16 on the inadmissibility of escalation," Zelensky said.

Note that on December 13 EU foreign ministers agreed that any Russian aggression against Ukraine will lead to economic sanctions against Moscow.

We shall remind you that on 15 December, the president of the European Commission reiterated that the EU was ready to strengthen sanctions against Russia and impose new ones in case of new aggressive actions against Ukraine.

At the same time, according to media reports, leading EU countries are resisting plans to quickly develop specific sanctions and other punishments for Russia if it invades Ukraine.

As a reminder, Vladimir Zelenski is also scheduled to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg as part of his trip to the Eastern Partnership summit.
