The list of professions for the military registration of women will be reviewed

The head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Oleksandr Zavitnevich said that the list of professions, whose representatives will have to register for military service, is planned to be reduced.

He wrote in his Facebook that he had discussed this issue with Minister of Defense Alexei Reznikov in the morning.

According to Zavitnevich, the list of professions was to be determined by the Ministry of Defense, and after its publication "we saw that it was very large."

"We came to an agreement that the list will be revised downward and common sense, because there are professions there that will really not be needed by the Armed Forces and other military formations. But the initiative itself is correct, the country should know its reserves, we should be ready, because the situation obliges," he said.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense has expanded the list of professions and occupations that require women to be enrolled in the military registration of persons liable for military service.

The document came into force on December 17. Women will have to be registered by the end of 2022 if their profession is included in the expanded list and they are fit for military service due to their health and age (from 18 to 60 years).

The list includes such popular professions as programmers, doctors, lawyers, journalists, musicians, social workers, accountants, restaurant and hotel employees and so on.
