The main task is to prevent a new war in Ukraine - Shalva Papuashvili

"The main objective is to prevent a new war in Ukraine and I think that all our efforts, words and deeds should be directed towards this, so that there is no new war in Ukraine, it is in the interests of Ukraine, Georgia and the region as a whole," - stated the Georgian Parliament Chairman Shalva Papuashvili during the Parliament bureau session.

He opened the session of the bureau with the issue of Ukraine and expressed solidarity with Ukraine. According to him, the unity of the West will be critical to prevent a new war.

"I want to express solidarity, first of all, to Ukraine on the issue of taking care of the sovereignty of their country and the security of their people. It is absolutely unacceptable on the part of any country to question the sovereignty or territorial integrity of another country. Several days ago I had a meeting with the Ambassador of Ukraine in Georgia and I expressed our support to him as well. The main task today is to prevent a new war in Ukraine and I think that all our efforts, words and deeds should be directed exactly to this, so that there is no new war in Ukraine. This is in the interests of both Ukraine and Georgia and the region as a whole. The unity of the West is important and critical here in order to prevent hostilities in Ukraine. I would like to inform the population that we are in close communication with Western partners and, of course, we act in accordance with this communication," Papuashvili said.
