Georgia reacted to attempts of unrecognized South Ossetia to join the Russian Federation

Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkiani called unacceptable any talk of holding a referendum on joining Russia in occupied South Ossetia. It was reported by Front News.

The diplomat said the results of the potential referendum would be legally null and void. In particular, because of the presence of Russian troops in the region and thousands of refugees forced to flee South Ossetia.

"Under the conditions when this territory of Georgia is occupied, it is unacceptable to talk about any referendums. Although they are trying to draw Georgia into provocations, our government will not allow it. The peaceful policy announced by the government is consistent, we will not use force to restore the territorial integrity". - explained Zalkiani.
