Ready 60 km of the fence on the Polish-Belarusian border

Poland has already built about 60 kilometers of fence spans at various sections on the border with Belarus, said Border Guard Service spokesman Lieutenant Anna Michalska.

Construction of the fence, which will be installed at 186 kilometers of the Polish-Belarusian border, was launched on January 25.

The work, in which some 3,000 people are involved, continues from morning until late afternoon every day and on Sundays at many sites.

"The next phases of the fence are proceeding as planned, and the contractors say they will complete the work by the end of June," Michalska noted.

Poland decided to build a fence on its border with Belarus after the events of the summer and fall of 2021, when self-proclaimed President Alexander Lukashenko artificially provoked a migration crisis on the borders of Poland and Lithuania by offering Belarus to transit people from the Middle East and Africa to the EU borders.
