Ukraine begins exporting electricity to Moldova

NNEGC Energoatom signed an export contract with Moldova's state-owned company Energocom, under which it plans to supply 85,200 MWh of electricity to Moldova in June at a price of $77 per 1 MWh.

"Energoatom" has a great potential to increase the volume of electricity production, so its export to Moldova and subsequently to neighboring EU countries is an extremely promising direction of the company's trade activities," the NNEGC said.

The NNEGC also noted that due to exports, Energoatom will get an additional source for financing special commitments (SCO), according to which the population is supplied with electricity.

At the same time, Energoatom noted that Ukrainian export will allow Moldova to diversify electric power supplies and strengthen the country's energy security, as its energy consumption is largely dependent on the generation at the Moldovan power plant in Russia.
