Eurovision 2023 will not take place in Ukraine - the organizers

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has decided that the song contest "Eurovision" in 2023 will not be held in Ukraine. The organizers turned to Great Britain to discuss the possibility of holding the contest there, since the representative of this country took second place, reports Ukrainska Pravda.

"The EBU would like to thank UA.Suspilne for their sincere cooperation and commitment to explore all scenarios in the weeks following Kalush Orchestra's May 14 victory in Turin and share their sadness and disappointment that next year's contest cannot be held in Ukraine...

As a result of this decision, in accordance with the rules and to ensure the continuity of the event, the EBU will now begin negotiations with the BBC, this year's runner-up, on the potential hosting of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in the United Kingdom."

At the same time, the EBU noted that it would like Ukraine's victory to be reflected in next year's contest: "This will be a priority for us in our discussions with the possible hosts.
