The goal of the Russian Federation is to cause maximum damage to Kharkiv, it does not have the strength to take the city. This was stated by Mikhail Podolyak, advisor to the head of the Office of the President.
Podolyak said that the shelling of residential areas of Kharkiv in terms of military art makes no sense.
"Russia clearly does not have the strength to take Kharkiv. But Moscow doesn't have such a goal either. Their goal is to inflict maximum damage on the city and take revenge on its inhabitants. To show Kharkov the real charms of the 'Russian world' and 'friendship of peoples' - 'Grads', 'Hurricanes', 'Smerchis'," he wrote.
Podolyak believes that Russia is waging this war because of "irrational revenge" - for the Ukrainians ruining Moscow's intentions in 2014 and February 2022.

Podolyak argues that the hero city of Kharkiv will stand.
"And Kharkiv citizens will live several orders of magnitude longer than the Russian Empire will last. History loves truth and strong people too much," he added.
