Dismissals from military service in Germany became more frequent after the outbreak of war in Ukraine. German soldiers did not expect a military conflict. Spiegel writes about it.

 

From January to June 2, the Federal Office for Family and Civil Society received 533 applications for dismissal from service. However, this is twice as many as last year (209 applications).

 

528 applications were from active military and reservists. Often, the justification given was that soldiers "did not expect a military conflict.
