The United States will supply Ukraine with air defense systems. We are talking about medium- and long-range air defense systems. This was announced by US presidential adviser Jake Sullivan, according to The New York Times.
The White House spokesman revealed that Washington is finalizing a new aid package.
"We do intend to finalize a package that includes advanced medium- and long-range air defenses for Ukraine, as well as some other items that are badly needed, including artillery ammunition and counter-battery radars," he said.
Sullivan did not specify what kind of air defense systems he was referring to. But an anonymous U.S. official familiar with the decision told the NYT that the Biden administration would purchase NASAMS for Ukraine. The Norwegian air defense system NASAMS is capable of hitting targets at a distance of more than 160 km.
