Ukraine will do everything it can to start membership negotiations with the European Union as soon as possible, President Volodymyr Zelensky says.
"We applied for accession to the European Union and received the candidacy with the speed and conditions, which no other state had. With such a speed we have to come to the beginning of negotiations on Ukraine's membership in the European Union, "- the President said at the solemn meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, dedicated to the Day of Statehood, on Thursday in Kiev.
He stressed that everything necessary for this would be done.
"We will do everything that we have to do: synchronize Ukrainian legislation with the EU law. We will do. A plan for the implementation of all EU regulations and directives within the framework of the implementation of the Association Agreement with the European Union has also been formed. This is actually a common task for us, for you, dear deputies, for the government of our state, and it corresponds to our new reality", - the head of the state added.
According to him, Ukraine is getting closer to Europe every day.
"We have come to the fact that our state, our state system institutionally becomes Europe. We have begun the process of deoligarchization. A register is being formed that is ready to put the oligarchs under the power of society," Zelensky said.
He said that he had signed a decree on the creation of a competition commission to select candidates for the Supreme Justice Council. According to him, thanks to this step and others, everything will be done so that the judicial reform will ensure that every Ukrainian has access to fair and competent justice.
