Blocking Facebook posts for "Russians". The Ministry of Science and Technology is negotiating with the company Meta

The Ministry of Digital Transformation is negotiating with Meta to block content that tells the truth about the war in Ukraine, but allegedly offends Russians.

The Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov told about it on the air of a telethon.

"We have been communicating with the corporation since the beginning. I met with the vice president for policy, who communicates with governments, sent letters and had many video meetings. We insist that Meta corporation revise its content moderation policy because social media is created to tell in real time what is going on in the environment where you live", - said Federov.

As the minister noted, there is a war going on in Ukraine today and the world needs to know the truth. At the same time, the algorithms that are involved during moderation is important to change and adapt to avoid such cases of blocking.

"As of today, we have been able to quickly unblock media or bloggers. The percentage of unblocking is high, but it is not enough," the minister adds.

Fedorov sent a letter to Meta with specific cases of blocking and asked to deal with the fact that the company's algorithms stop doing it.

"We, business, media and bloggers have now launched a specific campaign, which is related to stop blocking and accelerate the process of changing the algorithms and moderation of content," - said the Minister.

Recall that the heads of the four committees of the U.S. House of Representatives have sent formal requests to the leadership of the social networks YouTube, TikTok, Twitter and Facebook with a request to keep content with crimes of Russia.
