The USA is sure that the Russian Federation is using Iranian drones against Ukraine

In Washington, Tehran's statements that Iran allegedly did not transfer kamikaze drones to Russia are untrue, and they are convinced that they are being used against Ukraine.

As Reuters reports, such statements were made by the speakers of the State Department and the White House.

White House press secretary Karin Jean-Pierre was asked at the briefing whether Washington is considering new sanctions against Iran in connection with the transfer of drones to Russia, which are now being used against Ukraine.

She replied that the USA had long warned about such plans of the Russian Federation and Iran. "There is strong evidence of their use by the Russian Federation against both military and civilian targets (in Ukraine)...However, Iran continues to lie about this, denying that it provided Russia with weapons for use against Ukraine," Karin Jean-Pierre said, adding that the USA will continue to make it difficult for Iran to sell such weapons to the Russian Federation.

State Department spokesman Vedant Patel said the US agrees with France and Germany's assessment that Iran's provision of drones to Russia violates a UN resolution that became part of the 2015 so-called "nuclear deal". Under it, restrictions on Iran's purchase or sale of advanced weapons systems, including drones, were to remain in place until 2023.

"We believe that these drones, which Iran transfers to Russia and which the Russian Federation uses against Ukraine, are among the weapons that should have remained under the embargo in accordance with resolution 2231," he said.

It was unofficially reported that the US is preparing additional sanctions against Iran due to the sale of missiles to Russia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stated that Iran's provision of weapons to Russia for waging a full-scale war makes it an accomplice to aggression and war crimes on the territory of Ukraine.
