Poland will spend 4% of GDP on defense this year

Because of the war in Ukraine, Poland plans to increase defense spending to 4% of GDP this year.

The Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, said about this, according to "European Truth" with reference to PAP.

He assured that the "highest, absolute priority" for the Polish government is to increase the size of the Polish army and strengthen the presence of NATO troops on Polish territory.

"The Poles entrusted us with management in times of trouble, the war in Ukraine forces us to arm ourselves even faster. That is why this year we will make unprecedented efforts - 4% of GDP for the Polish military, this will probably be the largest percentage of money allocated to the army among all NATO countries Morawiecki said.

"This will be a clear proof for all countries - we will protect our land, Poland is safe, Poland will be increasingly safer together with our allies," the head of government said.

At the same time, he emphasized that the Polish army is "the basis of security, the basis of development, the basis of the future."

As reported, Poland will change the concept of defense against aggression from the east after the conclusions from the actions of the Russian army in Ukraine.

It will be recalled that earlier the Minister of Defense of Poland Mariusz Blaszczak announced that the 1st Infantry Division of the Legions of the Polish Army will be formed in the east of Poland, equipped with tanks purchased in South Korea and the USA.
