Spain will provide Ukraine with 4 to 6 German-made Leopard 2A4 tanks, which have been in storage for a long time.
This is reported by El Pais with reference to government sources.
According to the publication, the final figure will depend on the condition of 53 tanks, which have been stored in 41 logistics groups in Zaragoza for ten years.
The Spanish Ministry of Defense is currently conducting urgent negotiations with the military industry to restore the tanks.
The decision on the number will also depend on the contribution made by other countries.
The Spanish military will also conduct an accelerated training course for Ukrainian tankers at a training ground near Zaragoza. It is planned to train at least 10 crews, as well as mechanics and other personnel who maintain the equipment.
Spain has the second largest fleet of Leopard tanks in Europe. Only Greece, which has already declared that it will not provide tanks to Ukraine, is more.
