Freedom House: Georgian authorities are responsible for Saakashvili's health

The international organization Freedom House called on the Georgian authorities to provide the country's third president, Mikheil Saakashvili, with access to proper treatment. This is stated on Twitter of the organization.

"We are alarmed by the recent reports and photos of the imprisoned former president of Georgia, Mykhailo Saakashvili. The Georgian government is responsible for Saakashvili's health and well-being while he is in custody. And we call on them to provide him with immediate and full medical care."

The Georgian authorities continue to insist that talks about Saakashvili's critical condition are part of a PR campaign, and he himself is faking it.

In the Tbilisi City Court, hearings of the lawyers' request for a postponement of the sentence and release of Saakashvili due to his health are continuing - the next session is scheduled for next week. Lawyers are trying to get daily hearings in the process to get a decision as soon as possible and are preparing documents to transfer the case to international courts.

Earlier, Ukraine called on the Georgian authorities to hand him over for further treatment.
