Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the introduction of a state of emergency in 10 provinces of the country for a period of three months.

 This was reported by the Turkish state agency Anadolu.

 "We will quickly complete the presidential and parliamentary processes for the decision on the state of emergency, which will operate in the 10 provinces affected by the earthquakes and will last for 3 months," Erdogan said.

 Erdogan clarified that the number of victims in Turkey has increased to 3,549, 22,168 were injured. Earlier it was reported about 3419 dead. Thus, the number of dead in Turkey and Syria exceeded 5 thousand.

 More than 8,000 people were rescued from the rubble. Efforts of all Turkish state structures, personnel and equipment have been mobilized for work in the disaster zone. According to Erdogan, 53,317 rescuers are already working in the affected areas. Their number is increasing day by day thanks to teams from Turkey and other countries.

 The state allocated 100 billion lira for providing emergency aid to the residents of the disaster zone. 54,000 tents, 102,000 beds, and basic necessities were sent to the earthquake zone.

 Turkey plans to open hotels in the tourist center of Antalya to temporarily house people affected by the earthquakes.

 Erdogan noted that Turkey was facing one of the biggest disasters not only in its history, but also in the history of the region and the world.

 According to the Turkish government, the earthquake directly affected 16% of Turkey's population.
