The number of dead as a result of the latest earthquake in Turkey has increased, 140 people have been injured

As a result of the earthquake in the Turkish province of Malatya on February 27, two people died and 140 others were injured.

 

 Such updated data was published by the Anadolu agency.

 

 At first one death was reported, AFAD emergency services later reported another fatality. 32 people were rescued alive from under the rubble, work is still ongoing. More than 600 rescuers are involved in clearing the debris.

 

 The condition of 12 out of 140 victims is assessed as serious.

 

 It will be recalled that on February 27, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 occurred in Malatya, the tremors led to the destruction of about 30 buildings. It is the third major earthquake since the strongest aftershocks on February 6, when southeast Turkey and nearby areas of Syria were shaken by tremors of magnitude 7.7 and, later that day, 7.6.

 

 The confirmed death toll from the destruction in both countries has exceeded 50,000.

 

 As reported, in the city of Adiyaman, a cat was rescued from the rubble, which survived after 21 days under the ruins.
