The EU will consider adding 3.5 billion euros to the fund from which military aid is provided to Ukraine

The European Union has agreed to consider increasing the European Peace Fund (EPF), which provides military aid to Ukraine, by 3.5 billion euros. This was stated by the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, following the results of the EU Council meeting on March 20.

"Knowing that the needs will grow not only for Ukraine, but also for other countries of the world, the EU Council also agreed to consider the issue of further increasing the total financial capabilities of the EPF by 3.5 billion euros. I am not saying that the EU Council agreed to their increase, but to consider this further increase, which is the first step towards that," Borrell said.

Borrell warned that if EU member states agreed to use €2 billion to replenish ammunition for Ukraine, the European Global Fund would need more resources for the rest, "around the world and even for Ukraine."
