The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia announced the probable dates of Ukraine's accession to the EU and NATO

It may take years for Ukraine to become a member of the European Union, while joining NATO is the only correct scenario for Ukraine after the end of the war with Russia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia announced the probable dates of Ukraine's accession to the EU and NATO

This opinion was voiced by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, Urmas Reinsal, in an interview with "RBK-Ukraine".

According to him, a political decision was made in Brussels last June to grant Kyiv the status of a candidate for EU membership.

"But there are certain criteria, and I am sure that Ukraine, thanks to its determination, will be able to fulfill all seven points. After that, it will be time to make political decisions. In a number of European countries, there is hidden or open indecision on this issue," Reinsalu emphasized.

At the same time, the diplomat added that currently the main issue is not about granting membership to Ukraine, but about the expansion of the European Union in general. The Estonian minister claims that "the negotiation process regarding membership should not be connected with the situation at the front", as this will indicate that Putin has achieved his main goal - to prevent Ukraine from joining the Euro-Atlantic structures.

Urmas Reinsalu believes that acquiring membership in NATO through objective criteria is certainly easier, but it is very important that at the summit of the Alliance in Vilnius, Kyiv should be given a clear signal about the prospect of joining this organization.
