The Russian Orthodox Church wants to hand over Ukrainian prisoners to Hungary. They did not agree with Ukraine

The Russian Orthodox Church plans to hand over part of the Ukrainian prisoners to Hungary. This decision was not agreed with Ukraine.

This was reported by informed sources.

According to one of the interlocutors, the Russian Orthodox Church and its Patriarch Kyrylo (Gundyaev) intend to hand over at least 11 Ukrainian prisoners of war to Hungary. One of the intermediaries should be the charitable organization of the Maltese Relief Service of the Sovereign Order of Hospitallers.

"The transfer of prisoners of war is in no way coordinated with Ukraine, and its expediency is explained by the "Transcarpathian origin" of the military. It is important to understand that all the mentioned soldiers are Ukrainian citizens, and therefore their transfer to any third country is impossible without the consent and direct participation of Ukraine." said the source.

As the interlocutor explained, the purpose of this action is to restore the lost legitimacy of the Russian church, which has been subject to extensive international sanctions. Her patriarch is trying to use the authority of other countries and the international reputation of the Malta Aid Service. Also, Russia once again intends to play the so-called "Hungarian card" and actualize the imaginary problems of the so-called "Transcarpathian separatism", the interlocutor added.

"Another goal is to delegitimize the very process of exchanging prisoners of war. Of course, the release of any Ukrainian citizen from racist captivity is a positive event. But the uncontrolled transfer of our military to other countries is a dangerous path. Even despite the fact that respected international organization," the publication's source noted.

Exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and Russia

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, there have already been several exchanges of prisoners between Kyiv and Moscow. Recently, 106 fighters who fought in the Bakhmut direction were returned alive from Russian captivity to the territory of Ukraine.

Earlier, the head of the MID Kyrylo Budanov said that the exchange of captives "all for all" is currently being discussed, and they are already approaching a positive result. At the same time, this exchange, which is now more real than a quarter ago, can take more than one day.
