Denial of genocide: Podolyak criticized UN statement on war in Ukraine

Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak expressed his dissatisfaction with the statement by the head of the UN International Commission on Ukraine, Eric Mesé, that there are no signs of genocide in Ukraine.

Podolyak criticized Mesé and accused the UN of political toothlessness and indirect encouragement of criminals.

"What is political toothlessness and indirect encouragement of a criminal? An endless master class from the UN. Indeed, the Russians came to kill us... kindly, en masse. Specifically Ukrainians, but without intention. And the missiles kindly fly into cities every night. And the attempt to destroy the energy infrastructure in the winter so that people would die from the cold is completely accidental. And a full-scale war lasting more than 560 days, in which hundreds of Ukrainian cities and villages will be destroyed to the ground, is strictly within the limits of acceptable "non-genocide," the advisor wrote on Twitter.

Podolyak emphasizes that such statements may encourage Russia to continue its "right war" with dire consequences for the Ukrainian population.

As we reported earlier, the UN International Commission of Inquiry on Violations in Ukraine has stated that it does not yet have sufficient legal grounds to recognize the war in the country as genocide.
