Hungary linked the rise in inflation to the increase in oil transit fees through Ukraine

The Hungarian government accuses Ukraine of high inflation due to a fivefold increase in the fee for the transit of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline. This was stated by Gergely Gulyas, the head of the Hungarian Prime Minister's Office, Reuters reports.

According to him, the increase in the cost of oil transit in August affected gasoline prices in Hungary and also increased the overall inflation rate by 0.5 percent.

"The main reason for this is that we have to pay five times more for the supply of fuel by pipeline through Ukraine. Ukraine's increase in the transit fee is against all the norms," Gulyas emphasized.
