Document with autonomy plan for Donetsk and Luhansk regions was found in Shufrych's possession (UPDATED)

During a search of deputy Nestor Shufrych's place of residence, SBU officers found a document containing a plan to create autonomy for Donetsk and Luhansk regions. The information was published by Ukrayinska Pravda, citing sources in the SBU.

According to Ukrayinska Pravda, the document envisages renaming these regions into "regions", granting them broad autonomous powers, holding elections, and forming a separate government and parliament.

In addition, the signatures on the document, dated July 2014, belong to Viktor Medvedchuk and Shufrych.

"The cynicism of the situation is that it was in July 2014 that Shufrych publicly stated that both his sons would go to fight in the ATO if they were called up. At the same time, he was preparing documents that undermined the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine," the source said.

As we reported earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine is conducting a search in the house of Nestor Shufrych, People's Deputy of the "Platform for Life and Peace" group and chairman of the parliamentary committee on freedom of speech.

The SBU has officially confirmed that people's deputy Nestor Shufrych was charged with treason.

"He systematically spread the Kremlin's narratives that the Ukrainian state is an allegedly artificial entity, that Ukraine and Russia have a single history, and that Ukrainians and Russians are allegedly "one people." In this way, Shufrych tried to develop pro-Russian sentiments in Ukrainian society," the statement said.

According to the SBU, Shufrych coordinated his activities with former Deputy Secretary of the NSDC Volodymyr Sivkovych, whom the SBU calls "the coordinator of Russian agents in Ukraine."

45 searches were conducted at Shufrych's residence and in his inner circle. The People's deputy faces 15 years in prison.
