Estonia offers the EU to impose a full trade embargo on Russia

Today, the Estonian government has decided to approve the proposals included in the 12th package of sanctions against Russia, including a proposal to impose a full trade embargo. This information was confirmed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, Margus Tsahkna, in the Postimees.

Minister Tsahkna emphasized that in view of the illegal aggressive war that Russia is waging against Ukraine and the world order based on international law, it is necessary to continue to strengthen sanctions against the Kremlin and make their implementation more effective.

"Based on these three objectives, the government has approved Estonia's position on the 12th package of European Union sanctions, for which we will immediately start seeking the support of EU member states and like-minded partners," said Tsahkna.

Estonia believes that measures taken on a large scale together with other countries will be most effective.
