President of the Council of the European Union Charles Michel supports Ukraine's accession to the EU by 2030, but under certain conditions. He said this in an interview with the German newspaper Spiegel.

"Ukraine can join the EU in 2030 if both sides do their homework," the Council President said.

Among other things, Michel demanded that the EU speed up "decision-making processes". According to him, by quickly accepting Ukraine, the EU will also "prove that it is capable of geopolitical action."

At the same time, he emphasized that there would be no political discounts for Ukraine or any other candidates for membership in the bloc - in addition to Turkey, these are six Western Balkan states and Moldova.

"Ukraine and other candidate countries must carry out reforms, fight corruption and fulfill the requirements of the law," Spiegel quoted the EU Council President as saying.
