UN Security Council does not support Russian resolution on ceasefire in Israel and Gaza Strip

The UN Security Council has rejected a Russian resolution calling for a ceasefire between Israel and the Gaza Strip, without condemning the actions of Hamas terrorists. This was reported by the UN press service.

The decision was made after a vote in which five Security Council member states voted in favor of the resolution, while four countries voted against and six abstained.

The United States, Britain, and France expressed their disagreement with the document because it did not condemn Hamas militants for attacking Israel.

The US Permanent Representative to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, said that the resolution did not mention Hamas or condemn its actions, which, in her opinion, justifies the terrorist group responsible for violence against civilians.
