Russia changed commander in Kherson direction due to Ukrainian offensive - British intelligence

The appointment of Colonel-General Mykhailo Teplynskyi as the new commander of Russian troops in the Kherson direction indicates that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are increasing pressure on Russian groups in the south. This was reported by the UK Ministry of Defense on Twitter.

"Teplynskyi's appointment is likely to be an indicator of increased pressure on Russian forces in the area," the statement said.

According to British intelligence, fighting in the area has intensified in recent weeks as "Ukrainian forces challenge Russia's control of the eastern bank of the river."

"It is almost certain that repelling Ukrainian attacks across the Dnipro and holding territory in the occupied Kherson region remains a high priority for Russian forces in Ukraine," British intelligence officials said.

Describing the general, British intelligence believes that "Teplynskyi is probably highly respected in the Russian General Staff and has experience in commanding operations in the area." In particular, according to British intelligence, "he was the officer on the ground" who was responsible for the "relatively successful withdrawal" of Russian forces from Kherson and the right-bank part of the region.
