At the next meeting, the Verkhovna Rada may consider in the final reading a bill to legalize medical cannabis to help veterans with PTSD. The head of the Healthcare Committee, Mykhailo Radutskyi, told Bloomberg.

In July, the law was adopted in the first reading.

"In order for our citizens to survive the pain, stress, and trauma of war, we must finally reasonably legalize medical cannabis treatment for all those who need it," Zelensky told deputies at the time.

Bloomberg cites a July poll by the Razumkov Center, according to which public support for the initiative was split: 37% against and 35% in favor. The margin of error was 2.3%.

The publication also writes that although many Ukrainians suffering from anxiety and other illnesses hope that cannabis will help them, some studies show that medical weed can only temporarily silence traumatic emotions and have adverse side effects or even become harmful if used for a long time.
