The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has dismissed the leadership of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection, and the NABU has immediately filed a suspicion of corruption.
Today, on November 20, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to dismiss Yuriy Shchyhol, Head of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine, and Viktor Zhora, Deputy Head of the State Service for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalization. This was announced by the government's representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk.
Shortly after the dismissal, the NABU announced suspicion to the former leadership of the State Special Communications Service. Yuriy Shchyhol and Viktor Zhora are charged with embezzling UAH 62 million during the purchase of software between 2020 and 2022. The investigation alleges that the services, valued at UAH 223 million, were purchased through controlled companies, and the defendants paid an inflated amount of UAH 285 million for them.
The issue of choosing a preventive measure for the suspects is currently being decided.
