Ukraine's Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh invited Mauritania to support President Volodymyr Zelensky's Peace Formula and participate in the International Food Security Summit to be held in Kyiv on November 25. This was discussed during Subkh's meeting with Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Overseas Mauritanians of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, during his working visit to Nouakchott.
"Maxim Subkh invited Mauritania to join the promotion and support of the Peace Formula of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. In order to intensify international efforts to ensure global food security and support the countries most affected by hunger, the Ukrainian side has renewed its invitation to Mauritania to participate in the International Summit on Food Security-2023, which will be held in Kyiv on November 25," the Foreign Ministry said.
An important step towards the development of Ukrainian grain exports to Africa, Asia, and the Middle East is the restoration of the unimpeded functioning of the Black Sea Grain Corridor, an initiative supported by Subkh.
He also called on Mauritania to join the Grain from Ukraine initiative, which aims to significantly increase food supplies to African and Asian countries.
The parties also discussed the development of trade and economic, energy, agricultural cooperation, as well as cooperation in the fields of information and communication technologies, culture and education.
Subkh informed about Ukraine's intention to open new embassies in Africa in the near future to strengthen relations, including with Mauritania.
