Chancellor: Austria will not support the start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU

Austrian Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer has said that his country will not support the start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU. He said this during the parliamentary session of the Committee on European Union Affairs of the Austrian National Council, as stated in the relevant protocol.

In particular, according to Nehammer, "there should be no preferences for Ukraine, especially given the situation with Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is also currently negotiating accession."

At the same time, the Austrian Chancellor believes that Ukraine and Moldova should be offered the prospect of joining the EU "as a sign of solidarity," but Nehammer is against an accelerated procedure.

Austria is also not ready to support the allocation of 50 billion euros of aid to Ukraine.
