A residential area in Lviv was left without hot water and heating due to a hacker attack (UPDATED)

The Sykhiv residential area in Lviv was left without hot water and heating as a result of a hacker attack on the Lvivteploenergo utility company. This is reported on the company's website.


"The hacker attack disrupted the heat supply control system. Work is underway to restore heating and hot water supply in the Sykhiv residential area," the company said in a statement.


The press service of the Lviv City Council reported that last night there was a failure in the heat supply system of Lvivteploenergo, which resulted in the shutdown of 324 individual heating points in the Sykhiv residential area. As of now, 175 of them have resumed operation and the company plans to fully restore heat and hot water supply by the end of the day.


About 100,000 people live in the Sykhiv residential area.

"Heat supply has been restored in Sykhiv. Hot water supply has been restored by 30%," explained the mayor.


According to Sadovyi, last night there was a malfunction in the heat supply system of Lvivteploenergo, which left some residents of Sykhiv without heat and hot water.


"There is a suspicion of external interference in the company's work system, this information is currently being checked," said Sadovyi.
