Ukraine and the USA sign a memorandum on strengthening control over international assistance

Ukraine and the United States of America are strengthening cooperation in monitoring the use of international assistance provided to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Today, January 31, the countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

 

 

Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov met with US Department of Defense Inspector General Robert Storch in Kyiv today, where an important document was signed. During the meeting, Umerov told the American side about the institutional transformations taking place in the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.


The minister noted that by the end of April, it is planned to fully implement supervisory mechanisms, and the system will be 100% ready to work. He also emphasized that strengthening control and transparency in the use of security assistance from partners is one of the priorities of the Ministry.


The signed Memorandum provides for the exchange of relevant information to detect, confirm and prevent fraud and corruption related to security assistance.


The document also provides for joint activities and the creation of a mechanism for mutual transmission of requests for investigations and activities within the competence of both parties.


It is also planned to hold periodic meetings to identify priorities for cooperation to achieve common goals.
