Ambassador to NATO: Spring 2024 is the expected date for Ukraine to receive F-16s

Spring 2024 remains the date when Ukraine expects to receive its first F-16 fighter jets. This was stated by Nataliia Galibarenko, Head of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO, during a meeting with journalists in Brussels.

"I heard from the very beginning that we were talking about spring 2024. This is necessary to bring together several components in time: not only getting the machine itself, but also training pilots - skills plus English. And there is also a huge layer that often falls out of sight - training of the personnel who maintain (the fighter). That is, it was also launched together with the pilots at the same level. And then there's the (necessary) preparation of certain infrastructure. Because not all of our runways are ready for this," the ambassador said.

Galibarenko noted that she does not see any delays in the issue of receiving the fighter jets.

"Tomorrow there will be a meeting in the Ramstein format and a report from the F-16 coalition on how things are going," she added, "I think that after tomorrow's meeting, there may be some more detailed information. But right now, everything is according to plan. And spring of 2024 is one of the realistic dates that we have mentioned."
