French defense companies will start production of weapons in Ukraine this summer, - Lecornu

Three French defense companies intend to start production in Ukraine this summer. This was stated by French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu, France24 reports.

"Three French companies will establish partnerships with Ukrainian companies, particularly in the unmanned and ground vehicles sectors, to produce spare parts on Ukrainian soil and, possibly in the future, ammunition," he said.

He made it clear that the companies involved would include tank manufacturer KNDS, a holding company formed by France's Nexter and Germany's Krauss-Maffei-Wegmann.

"The idea is to launch the first production facilities already this summer," Lecornu added.
