The French government explained what the presence of foreign troops in Ukraine could be

French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu has said that "there is no question of sending ground troops to fight" in Ukraine. He said this in an interview with BFMTV.

At the same time, the French minister allowed the presence of foreign troops as "instructors" or demining specialists.

"Are there any plans for a military presence that are impossible? I am thinking about demining and training Ukrainian soldiers on their own land," he said.

Lecornu emphasized that "we are no longer in the same situation as two years ago."

On Thursday, the Kremlin accused Emmanuel Macron of increasing France's "direct involvement" in the war.

Answering a question about this statement, Lecornu emphasized: "The history of France does not allow for weakness. Maintaining the balance of power means not being weak and not escalating. We do not want to show weakness to Moscow".
