Minister of Finance Sergiy Marchenko and US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink have signed an agreement on deferral of payments on the public debt. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Finance.

According to Marchenko, the signing of this agreement will reduce the debt burden on the state budget of Ukraine and direct the funds that were supposed to be paid to repay and service debt obligations to the needs of the social and humanitarian spheres. 

"We are grateful to our partners for their significant contribution to the support of Ukraine's macro-financial stability and economic growth in the time of war," the Minister added.

The conclusion of this agreement was envisaged by the Memorandum of Understanding on the suspension of public debt payments with a group of Ukraine's official creditors from the G7 countries and the Paris Club. 

It is worth noting that Ukraine is planning to conduct a new large-scale external debt restructuring this year. The previous one was in 2022.
