Vote in the US Congress on allocation of aid to Ukraine may be postponed again - Bloomberg

The vote of the US Congress on the allocation of aid to Ukraine may be postponed for a few more weeks, Bloomberg reports.

Speaker of the House Johnson promised to put the bill to a vote "as soon as" lawmakers return from vacation on April 9. However, the publication's sources say that a vote seems unlikely at least until mid-April, and possibly later.

Johnson is still looking for ways to soften resistance from Republican hardliners.

Johnson's team has not yet shared any detailed plan for the aid package with Republicans and does not seem to have decided what concessions to demand from Biden, so there is no support for a vote next week.

Earlier, Johnson said he would change the terms of the allocation of aid. This could include a loan, confiscation of Russian assets as compensation, and lifting the Biden administration's moratorium on new liquefied natural gas export licenses.
