Russians attack underground gas storage facilities, thermal power plants and high-voltage substations: details

In a massive attack on the night of April 11, Russia hit underground gas storage facilities, thermal power plants, and high-voltage substations.

Naftogaz Group reported that two underground gas storage facilities were targeted in the air attack.

"The storage facilities continue to operate. Specialists are working to eliminate the consequences of the attack. The employees were not injured," the statement said.

According to the Ministry of Energy, Russian drones and missiles attacked energy infrastructure facilities in Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Lviv, Kyiv, and Odesa regions.

Two DTEK  thermal power plants were severely damaged (the company does not specify which ones). The Ministry of Energy reports damage to generation facilities in three regions: Lviv, Kharkiv, and Kyiv.

It should be noted that a number of Ukrainian publics are spreading a video claiming that it is the Tripillya TPP in Kyiv region that is on fire after the hit. Earlier, public media reported that the Obukhiv-Ukrainka road was blocked in Kyiv region after the hit. The Trypillia TPP is located in the Ukrainka district.

In Lviv region, missiles and UAVs attacked two energy facilities. These are a gas distribution facility in Stryi district and an electricity substation in Chervonohrad district.  Fires broke out there, and there were no casualties, said Governor Kozitsky.

It should be noted that this is not the first time that Stryi has been the target of Russian attacks. Gas facilities have been shelled there before (probably Ukraine's largest underground gas storage facility).

In Odesa region, the wreckage of downed drones caused a fire on the territory of an energy facility. It has already been extinguished, according to the Defense Forces of the South of Ukraine.

In the morning, Zaporizhzhia region was hit by air strikes that damaged a power plant.

The most difficult situation after the night and morning shelling is in Kharkiv region. There were more than 10 rocket attacks on the city alone, said Oleksiy Kuleba, deputy head of the OP.

"There are already power outages in the region - more than 200,000 subscribers in Kharkiv region have been left without electricity. The metro works as a shelter," he said.

Mayor Terekhov, commenting on the strikes, said that there may be problems with power supply in Kharkiv.

"The metro will not work for the next few hours, so please plan your routes accordingly," he added.

This is the third massive attack on Ukraine's power grid in the last three weeks.
