A gas leak causes an explosion in a high-rise building in Kryvyi Rih: one person died and seven were injured

On the night of April 11, a gas leak caused an explosion in one of the high-rise buildings in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region. The head of the Kryvyi Rih District Military Administration, Yevhen Sytnychenko, reported this on Telegram.


The explosion occurred around 3:00 a.m. As of 7:30 a.m., seven people were reported injured, three of them hospitalized.


"Structures from the third to the fifth floor of one of the entrances were partially destroyed. A fire broke out in the building, which was quickly extinguished by the State Emergency Service," Sytnychenko wrote.

 

Later, the head of the city's defense council, Oleksandr Vilkul, said that rescuers had found a dead man under the rubble.


"Unfortunately, one dead man, a 47-year-old man, was found under the rubble at the site of the explosion in Skhidne," he said.

 

The State Emergency Service in Dnipropetrovsk region published a video of the explosion. Rescuers said that one apartment on the 4th floor was completely destroyed. Stairwells, balcony blocks and interior ceilings were damaged from the 3rd to the 6th floor.
