Budget deficit: the government was forced to spend $4 billion on arms purchases due to a lack of aid from allies

The lack of necessary military aid from the allies forced the Ukrainian government to spend $4 billion on the purchase of weapons and ammunition. These expenses were not planned and created a budget deficit. This was stated by the country's Finance Minister Sergiy Marchenko.

He emphasized that Ukraine is currently facing insufficient funding and arms supplies.

"$ 4 billion is the amount of money the government spent on arms purchases, in the conditions when there were not enough shells and weapons promised by partners. This has negative consequences for the budget," the Minister of Finance said.

Marchenko emphasized the need to find ways to finance Ukraine's needs, including the transfer of frozen Russian assets to Kyiv. He noted that Ukraine will not be able to win if partners do not help to equalize the country's military resources with those of the Russian Federation.
