Shmyhal summarized the results of his visit to the USA: Finally saw progress in unblocking aid

Following the results of his visit to the USA, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal spoke about progress in unblocking aid to Kyiv from Washington, including the expectation that Congress will pass a bill to allocate $61 billion to support our country. This was reported in the Ukrainian Prime Minister's Telegram.

According to Shmyhal, during the "important visit" the Ukrainian side worked on three key topics:

  • unblocking military and financial aid from the USA;
  • American investments in the Ukrainian economy;
  • the use of Russian frozen assets.

"We have finally seen progress in unblocking US aid. The bill provides for $61 billion to support Ukraine," the official said.

He clarified that the main part of the funds should be allocated for military needs.

"$7.8 billion is budget support. More than $1.5 billion is economic aid," Shmyhal said.

In addition, the Prime Minister added, the US Congress plans to consider a bill on the confiscation of frozen Russian assets for the needs of Ukraine.

Shmyhal said that during his visit to the United States, he held personal meetings with the leaders of the Democratic and Republican parties in Congress, as well as the Ukrainian Caucus in the Senate.

"We received assurances of support for the draft laws from both parties. We expect that this large aid package from the United States will be voted on in the near future," the official summarizes.
